In January, inflation was announced as 4.84%. With this rate, Bağ-Kur retirees are entitled to the first inflation difference, while calculations for the July raise for civil servants and civil servant retirees have begun. The final raise rate will be clarified with the inflation data to be announced in the next five months.

With the announcement of the inflation figures for January, calculations regarding salary increases for civil servants and retirees have also begun. While the inflation difference that will occur in the first half of 2026 is eagerly awaited, the first data of the increase process has been clarified with the January inflation.

Civil servants and civil servant retirees receive salary increases twice a year, in January and July. These increases are applied in addition to the collective bargaining increase along with the inflation difference. The salary increases for Bağ-Kur retirees are determined directly based on the 6-month inflation rate. With the announcement of the January inflation, the first step has been taken for the increase to be made in July 2026.

1-MONTH INFLATION DIFFERENCE CLARIFIED

According to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the inflation rate in January was realized at 4.84% on a monthly basis. This rate has been recorded as the first data for calculations for the July 2026 increase.

According to the announced figure, Bağ-Kur retirees have already earned an inflation difference of 4.84% as of January. This rate will accumulate and increase with the inflation data to be announced in February, March, April, May, and June, and will be reflected in salaries in July.

HOW WILL THE CALCULATION BE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND CIVIL SERVANT RETIREES?

The salary increases for civil servants and civil servant retirees are calculated based on the inflation difference in addition to the collective bargaining increase. For the inflation difference to be received in July 2026, there needs to be an inflation rate above the increase rate determined in the collective bargaining.

In this context, for civil servants and civil servant retirees to receive an inflation difference in July, an additional inflation rate of 5.88% is required. This rate will be finalized with the announcement of the inflation data for February, March, April, May, and June.

COLLECTIVE BARGAINING INCREASE WILL ALSO BE APPLIED IN JULY

Civil servants and civil servant retirees will also receive a collective bargaining increase of 7% in addition to the inflation difference in July 2026. Thus, the newly announced inflation data will directly affect the salary increases of millions of civil servants and retirees. With the January data, the increase process has officially begun, and eyes are now turned to the inflation figures to be announced in the coming months.
