A suspect has been arrested in connection with three separate arson incidents targeting the home of UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and other properties belonging to him.

According to a statement from the UK's counter-terrorism units, the 21-year-old suspect is being questioned on charges of "arson with intent to endanger life."

The three suspicious fires that occurred in the past week in North London have alarmed security units. The first incident involved a vehicle set on fire near the Prime Minister's home on May 8. Then, on May 11, the entrance door of a house linked to the Prime Minister was set ablaze. Finally, on May 12, the entrance door of Starmer's £2 million (approximately 85 million TL) home in Kentish Town was ignited using flammable material.

In a statement from the Metropolitan Police, it was noted, "At this stage of the investigation, we are looking into whether there is a connection between the fires and the possible motivation of the suspect."

Linda Perry (80), a local resident, told AA correspondent, "I woke up to the sound of fire screams around 3:00 AM. I have never seen anything like this in the 40 years I've lived in this neighborhood. Everyone is on edge."

Another eyewitness stated that the police were searching the gardens for "thrown objects" and noted that the entrance door of the Prime Minister's home was completely charred.

Forensic experts collecting evidence at the scene after the fires are also evaluating CCTV footage from the area and witness statements as part of the investigation.

Prime Minister Starmer, in a statement condemning the incident, said, "I am grateful to our fire crews who responded quickly to the fire and to the police force conducting the investigation. There is no place for violence in democratic societies."

Political observers point out that incidents of violence and threats against politicians have increased in the UK recently, emphasizing that the government needs to take new measures to enhance the security of senior politicians.
