In the incident that occurred on February 13, 2022, on Ankara Street, masked individuals fired 30 shots at vehicles waiting at the traffic lights, resulting in the deaths of 21-year-old Tuğçe Semiz and her 26-year-old cousin Emine Çöp, while 27-year-old Alihan Kaya, who was in the vehicle, was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. After the incident, the bodies of Tuğçe Semiz and Emine Çöp were taken to the Forensic Medicine Institution in Istanbul for examination following the work carried out by the teams.
CAUGHT 3.5 YEARS LATER
Police teams launched an operation to capture the suspects who killed two people and injured one. The Kocaeli Police Department's Homicide Bureau determined that the suspects had fled abroad. The suspects, who had been wanted for 3.5 years, were captured and detained in an operation in Çınarcık district of Yalova and in Kartal district of Istanbul. After their procedures at the police station, the suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before at the courthouse.
