Galatasaray will take legal action following the derby that ended in a 0-0 draw, regarding Fenerbahçe's head coach Jose Mourinho's statement, "Everyone on the opponent's bench was jumping around like monkeys." The yellow-reds will file a complaint with the prosecutor's office, finding the Portuguese coach's remarks to be racist.
Galatasaray reacted strongly to the words of Fenerbahçe's head coach Jose Mourinho, who said after the derby, "Everyone on the opponent's bench was jumping around like monkeys."
GALATASARAY'S STATEMENT: NO TO RACISM, WE WILL FILE A COMPLAINT
In the statement made by Galatasaray regarding the aforementioned words, the following expressions were used;
"Since he started working in Turkey, Fenerbahçe's head coach Jose Mourinho has regularly made derogatory remarks about the Turkish people, and today he has added inhumane statements to his immoral expressions. We announce that we will file a complaint against Jose Mourinho for these racist remarks, and we will also report him to UEFA and FIFA. Alongside all these initiatives, we will monitor the stance of our 'moral exemplar' rival's head coach regarding this statement."
"MOURINHO SHOULD BE PUNISHED"
On the other hand, a reaction to the Portuguese coach's remarks targeting the yellow-reds after the match also came from Galatasaray Sportif A.Ş. Vice President Abdullah Kavukçu. Speaking to Beyaz TV, Kavukçu said, "We will do everything necessary regarding Jose Mourinho. He officially committed racism; he should explain who he is calling a monkey. As if this is a banana republic! He talks about everything, Acun also comes out and defends him. He goes to the referee's room after the match and congratulates him! Before we act, the TFF should do what is necessary regarding racism! They do everything, and then they act superior! If we did it, what would they do? If the TFF does something about this issue, they are already obliged to punish the guy for racism," he stated.
WHAT DID MOURINHO SAY?
Fenerbahçe's head coach Jose Mourinho, after the Galatasaray match, said, "I cannot compare Yusuf Akçiçek to Raphiel Varane. He is not perfect, but he will be. Varane has won many trophies; he played in the Champions League at this age. I should also thank the referee. In the situation I mentioned, everyone on the opponent's bench was jumping around like monkeys. If it were a Turkish referee, he would have shown the card in the 1st minute and I would have had to send him off in the 5th minute. It was a great match for him. Vincenzo Montella has many names at his disposal, but I hope he is also happy with his performance. The goalkeeper is not bad either."
