A person who was arrested on charges of causing injuries by driving his car over a father and son who were neighbors at a vineyard house in Kayseri was released at the first hearing of the case, where he faces a prison sentence of 1 to 3 years. The moment of the incident was captured by the security camera of the vineyard house.
A neighbor named Cengiz A. in Kayseri ran his vehicle over Ahmet Y. and his son Serdar Y. due to a parking dispute. Cengiz A., who was arrested following the complaints of the injured father and son, was released at the first hearing.
HE RAN HIS VEHICLE OVER THE FATHER AND SON
The incident occurred on November 22 of last year around 11:00 AM in the Erkilet neighborhood of the Kocasinan district. Cengiz A. went to the vineyard house of his neighbors Ahmet Y. and his son Serdar Y., with whom he had a feud. A dispute arose between the parties over the parking issue. At that moment, Cengiz A. got into his vehicle and drove it towards the father and son. The father and son, who were caught under the vehicle, were injured, and following a complaint, the suspect neighbor Cengiz A. was taken into custody. Cengiz A. was arrested by the court he was brought to at the courthouse.
THE INCIDENT WAS CAPTURED ON CAMERA
A case was opened against Cengiz A. for 'intentional injury with a weapon against multiple people', and against the father and son for 'insult'. Meanwhile, the moment of the incident was captured by the security camera of the vineyard house. In the footage, it was seen that the father and son were trying to close the door of their vineyard house, while Cengiz A. drove his car towards the garden gate, and the father and son were caught under the vehicle. It was also observed that after Cengiz A. drove away with his car, the father and son threw something towards the vehicle.
THE TRIAL HAS STARTED
In the first hearing of the case held at the Kayseri 28th Criminal Court of First Instance, the complainant, detained defendant Cengiz A., and the complainant, non-detained defendants father and son, along with their lawyers, were present. Cengiz A., drawing attention to the issue between them, stated, "He leaves his car in the middle of the road to block my passage. I warned him several times. I lowered the handbrake of my car and moved it back 30-40 centimeters to create a passage. He said, 'Why are you messing with my car?' I asked him if he was blocking the road and what his problem was. My wife was with me. He started to curse. He threatened me. I got angry, got into my car, and hit the garden gate. My intention was not to injure them. I regret it. I am also complaining about them."
The complainant defendant Ahmet Y. stated, "He has it in for us. We tolerated him because he is our neighbor. On the day of the incident, he ran us over with his car. My leg was broken. I received stitches. Our treatment is still ongoing. We cannot wear shoes. I am complaining."
HE WAS RELEASED
The judge of the court decided to release the defendant Cengiz A. based on the nature of the charges against him and the fact that the evidence had been collected, taking into account the time he had spent in prison, and postponed the hearing.
