The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) is starting its new legislative year today after a break of approximately 2.5 months. The Parliament is starting its new legislative year. The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) will convene under the chairmanship of the Speaker of the Parliament, Numan Kurtulmuş, to mark the beginning of the 4th Legislative Year of the 28th Term. The special session, which will be chaired by Kurtulmuş, will start at 14:00.

PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN WILL ADDRESS

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will also attend the Opening Meeting of the 4th Legislative Year of the 28th Term of the TBMM. Erdoğan, who will address the general assembly at the opening, is expected to deliver important messages regarding both domestic and foreign policy, as well as the recent developments in Gaza.

Cabinet members, high judiciary officials, military authorities, ambassadors, and journalists will listen to President Erdoğan from their designated boxes in the General Assembly.

A reception will be held in the Parliament ceremony hall, hosted by Numan Kurtulmuş, due to the opening of the new legislative year.

BOYCOTT DECISION FROM 3 PARTIES

On the other hand, a boycott decision has come from 3 parties. The management of the Republican People's Party (CHP) has decided not to attend the special session in response to the recent operations against mayors and their party. CHP deputies will not welcome President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and will not listen to his speech.

Emek Partisi (EMEP) Chairman Seyit Aslan also announced on his social media account that they will not participate in the opening ceremony. Aslan stated that they will continue to be the voice of workers in the Parliament and mentioned that they made the boycott decision to protest the government.

The Turkey Workers' Party also announced that they will not be present at the opening of the new legislative year of the TBMM. In the party's statement, it was said, "At the same time, we will visit our elected Hatay Deputy Can Atalay, who should be serving in the Parliament but is imprisoned in Silivri Prison."
