In a speech at the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), İYİ Party Antalya Deputy Uğur Poyraz reacted to the chanting of "Biji Serok Apo" in favor of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan during the DEM Party group meeting. Poyraz's remarks led to a scuffle, with deputies from the İYİ Party and the DEM Party confronting each other.
During the group meeting of the DEM Party in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM), the chant "Biji Serok Apo" in favor of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan caused a stir in the TBMM General Assembly. İYİ Party Antalya Deputy Uğur Poyraz reacted harshly to the DEM Party.
İYİ PARTY'S REACTION TO DEM PARTY'S "SLOGAN": WORDS ARE INSUFFICIENT
Poyraz stated: "I refrain from creating a political advantage on behalf of my party and myself by attributing this madness and audacity to neither the ruling party, nor its partner, nor the main opposition party, nor to the DEM Party, which is the perpetrator of the incident. All the words that can be said to the DEM Party, which prefers the will of a terrorist over the will of the nation, are unfortunately insufficient. Just think for a moment, could there have been a chant for Osama Bin Laden in the American Congress? Under the roof of the TBMM, chants were made for a terrorist who aims to destroy the state and disrupt our unity, without distinguishing between Kurds and Turks.
DEM PARTY'S KOÇYİĞİT: SOMEONE DOES NOT WANT PEACE IN THIS COUNTRY
DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit reacted to Poyraz's speech, stating: "Being against peace, being against the process, and even being anti-Kurdish leads to the expression of that toxic language. Someone really does not want peace, freedom, and equality in this country. They do not want Kurds to be equal citizens in this country. We listened to a language that feeds on blood, tears, and rhetoric, aimed at sabotaging the will of the peoples to live together in Turkey. We have been listening to the same story for 40 years. When Kurds are oppressed in this country, when their rights are denied, when they cannot speak in their mother tongue, and when the representative of the Kurds is sent to prison from here, those who remain silent today have mourned while peace is being pursued. There will be many more troubles for you; the Kurdish people in this country will also be equal citizens."
İYİ PARTY AND DEM PARTY DEPUTIES CLASHED
After the speeches, tensions rose between the İYİ Party and DEM Party deputies. As the deputies stood up and approached each other, the fight was ended by other deputies who intervened.
