According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the unemployment rates for March have been announced. Accordingly, the unemployment rate in March decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared to the previous month, reaching 7.9%.
According to the results of the Household Labor Force Survey; the number of unemployed individuals aged 15 and over decreased by 65,000 in March 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 2 million 807 thousand. The unemployment rate decreased by 0.3 points to 7.9%. The unemployment rate is estimated to be 6.5% for men and 10.6% for women.
EMPLOYMENT RATE WAS 49.2%
The number of employed individuals increased by 391,000 in March 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 32 million 597 thousand, and the employment rate increased by 0.6 points to 49.2%. This rate was 66.9% for men and 31.9% for women.
LABOR FORCE PARTICIPATION RATE WAS 53.4%
The labor force increased by 325,000 in March 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 35 million 404 thousand, and the labor force participation rate increased by 0.4 points to 53.4%. The labor force participation rate was 71.6% for men and 35.7% for women.
SEASONALLY ADJUSTED UNEMPLOYMENT RATE AMONG YOUNG POPULATION WAS 15.1%
The unemployment rate among the young population aged 15-24 increased by 0.1 points compared to the previous month, reaching 15.1%. In this age group, the unemployment rate is estimated to be 11.0% for men and 22.6% for women.
AVERAGE ACTUAL WORKING TIME PER WEEK WAS 43.7 HOURS
The average actual working time per week for those employed during the reference period, adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, increased by 0.3 hours in March 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 43.7 hours.
UNDERUTILIZED LABOR FORCE RATE WAS 28.8%
The underutilized labor force rate, consisting of time-related underemployment, potential labor force, and unemployed individuals, increased by 0.3 points in March 2025 compared to the previous month, reaching 28.8%. The integrated rate of time-related underemployment and unemployed individuals was 17.9%, while the integrated rate of unemployed and potential labor force was estimated to be 20.1%.
