WHAT IS YELLOW FEVER VIRUS?
The yellow fever virus is a viral disease transmitted by the bites of Aedes or Haemagogus species mosquitoes. The incubation period for those who develop symptoms is 3-6 days. The initial symptoms of the disease are sudden fever, chills, severe headache, back pain, general body aches, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, and weakness.
About 15% of patients progress to a more severe phase. Eventually, shock and multiple organ failure develop. Half of these patients are lost 10-14 days after the onset of the first symptoms.
