It was alleged that during a meeting this week at the White House, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to increase economic pressure on Iran through oil sales to China.
While negotiations between the US and Iran continue, a striking claim has emerged from the Axios news site. According to a report based on two unnamed US officials cited by Axios, it was reported that US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed during their meeting at the White House this week to increase economic pressure on Iran through oil sales to China.
"WE HAVE DECIDED TO IMPLEMENT MAXIMUM PRESSURE"
The report reminded that more than 80% of Iran's oil exports are made to China, and included a statement from an official saying, "We have decided to implement maximum pressure on Iran in areas such as oil sales to China."
"IRAN SHOULD BE GIVEN A CHANCE FOR AN AGREEMENT"
It was conveyed that Trump and Netanyahu agreed that Iran should not have the capability to acquire nuclear weapons, while it was noted that the two did not agree on how to achieve this goal. According to the report, Netanyahu told Trump that it is impossible to make a good deal with Iran and that even if an agreement were signed, Iran would not comply with it. Trump, however, stated that it is not impossible, responding, "We will see if it is possible. Let's give it a try."
WITKOFF AND KUSHNER DO NOT TRUST IRAN
The report also mentioned that Trump's Special Representative for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner said that history has shown it is difficult, if not impossible, to reach a good agreement with Iran. It was reported that the two expressed to Trump that they would continue negotiations with Iran and adopt a tough stance. It was claimed that if Iran accepts a satisfactory agreement, Witkoff and Kushner would present Trump with the option of whether to accept it or not.
