Turkey is strengthening its relations with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). On November 24, 2025, the 7th ASEAN-Turkey Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee meeting was held at the ASEAN General Secretariat. During the meeting, it was stated that both sides reiterated their commitments to strengthen the Sectoral Dialogue Partnership. Ambassador Talip Küçükcan expressed that ASEAN and Turkey are collaborating in areas such as combating transnational crime, mine clearance, trade, and investment.
Turkey, which is accelerating its diplomatic relations worldwide, continues to take significant steps in Southeast Asia.
According to a statement from Turkey's Embassy in Indonesia, it was noted that Turkey has strengthened its relations with the "Association of Southeast Asian Nations" (ASEAN), a regional organization with 11 members.
"WE HAVE REITERATED OUR COMMITMENTS TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION"
The statement recorded that the 7th ASEAN-Turkey Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee (AT-JSCC) Meeting was held at the ASEAN General Secretariat on November 24, 2025, and emphasized that both sides reiterated their commitments to strengthen the Sectoral Dialogue Partnership by carrying out practical cooperation activities.
"WE ARE COLLABORATING IN MANY AREAS"
At the committee meeting co-chaired by Jakarta Ambassador Talip Küçükcan, it was learned that the Permanent Representatives of ASEAN member countries and Turkey reviewed the progress in the implementation of the 2014-2028 ASEAN-Turkey Practical Cooperation Areas (PCA). Ambassador Talip Küçükcan pointed out that ASEAN and Turkey are currently collaborating in areas such as combating transnational crimes, mine clearance, trade and investment, tourism, food and agriculture, education and youth, and the development of human resources, and stated that efforts would continue for a positive outcome regarding the application for Dialogue Partnership with ASEAN.
STEPS WILL BE TAKEN IN NEW AREAS
Ambassador Küçükcan added that discussions were held about the future direction of the sectoral Dialogue Partnership and that collaborations in areas such as cybersecurity, digital integration, green economy, public health, supply chain resilience, smart agriculture, disaster management, and women's empowerment were also addressed.
The 7th ASEAN-Turkey Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee (AT-JSCC) Meeting was co-chaired by Nararya S. Soeprapto, Deputy Secretary-General for Community and Corporate Affairs of ASEAN, and Professor Dr. Talip Küçükcan, Turkey's Ambassador to ASEAN, with the participation of members and representatives of the ASEAN Permanent Representatives Committee and relevant delegations.
ASEAN Member States expressed their satisfaction with Turkey's photo exhibition featuring activities conducted by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) that support development cooperation projects aimed at the ASEAN community, which was organized during the Meeting.
