Trump, who recently completed the first 100 days of his second four-year term as President of the United States, said, "I will be an 8-year president, I will be a two-term president. I have always thought that this is very important."
Stating, "I want to spend 4 great years and ideally hand it over to a great Republican who will carry it forward," Trump noted that the Republican Party also has other names that can carry the flag, mentioning U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Referring to the rule that a person cannot serve as president for more than two terms in the U.S., Trump said he "doesn't know" whether this is constitutional. However, he used the expression, "Others say 'you can vote in writing.'" Trump had stated in March that the idea of running for a third time is "not a joke" and that he received "strong offers" from his allies to run again. The 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice." On the other hand, there is a possibility of changing this rule with the support of two-thirds of both the House of Representatives and the Senate or two-thirds of state legislatures.
