The Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that the lack of fuel entering Gaza has brought the health system to the brink of collapse.
World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus shared a post on X regarding the situation in Gaza, which is under intense attacks and blockade by Israel.
"HEALTH SYSTEM ON THE BRINK OF COLLAPSE"
Ghebreyesus stated that there has been no fuel entering Gaza for over 100 days and that attempts to reclaim fuel stocks in evacuation areas have been rejected, saying, "This brings the health system to the brink of collapse. 17 hospitals, 7 field hospitals, and 43 health centers are barely operating with minimal daily fuel. Soon there will be no fuel left."
"AN URGENT CEASEFIRE MUST BE ACHIEVED"
Ghebreyesus pointed out that the lack of fuel has hindered health services as a whole, stating, "Allow fuel and medical supplies to enter Gaza by all possible means. An urgent ceasefire must be achieved."
