The automotive giant Ford has launched a historic recall program. An investigation has been initiated for approximately 1.3 million Ford trucks in the United States.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that an investigation has been launched regarding approximately 1.3 million Ford trucks due to a mechanical issue.
In a statement from NHTSA, it was noted that the investigation covers 2015-2017 model F-150 trucks. The statement mentioned that 138 consumer complaints have been received regarding these vehicles, indicating that the transmission unexpectedly and undesirably shifted to a lower gear without any warning or driver intervention during driving.
THE GEAR SHIFTING ISSUE IS GROWING
The statement indicated that the unexpected downshifting causes the vehicle to slow down suddenly and rapidly, and in some complaints, it was noted that the rear wheels of the vehicle temporarily locked during downshifting, which leads to a loss of control of the vehicle, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. In this context, it was stated that an investigation has been initiated regarding approximately 1.3 million Ford F-150 trucks.
