Ten suspects detained in the investigation into the abduction of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Culture Inc. Deputy General Manager Erhan Karaal in Maltepe have been arrested.
The investigation conducted by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into the kidnapping of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Culture A.S. Deputy General Manager Erhan Karaal in Maltepe continues.
10 MORE SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Procedures at the police station for the 10 suspects apprehended within the scope of the investigation have been completed. The suspects, brought to the Anatolian Courthouse, were referred to the on-duty criminal judgeship with a request for arrest on charges of "robbery by blocking the road" after their statements were taken at the public prosecutor's office. The judgeship ruled to arrest the 10 suspects.
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Chief Prosecutor's Office, which launched an investigation into the claim that Karaal was kidnapped in Maltepe, instructed the police to locate the victim and apprehend the suspects.
Following the teams' efforts, it was learned that Karaal, found at a construction site in Tuzla, was in good health.
Within the scope of the investigation, 12 suspects considered linked to the incident were detained; 6 were arrested, and 6 were released under judicial control.
In the ongoing investigation, 5 more suspects were apprehended during an operation at a villa in a forested area in Kocaeli, and it was determined that 4 of these suspects were involved in the kidnapping organization on the day of the incident.
With the capture of 5 more suspects by teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Public Order Branch Robbery Bureau, the number of detentions rose to 10.
