12 suspects, detained on charges of rigging the asphalt tenders of Avcılar Municipality in 2022 and causing millions of liras in public damage, were arrested by the court they were brought before.
A hot development occurred in the corruption investigation conducted by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Avcılar Municipality. Twelve suspects, including the Director of Public Works İsmail Kurtuluş, were arrested and sent to prison on charges of "Bid Rigging in Public Institutions or Organizations."
MORE THAN 3 MILLION TL PUBLIC DAMAGE
According to the details of the investigation, the irregularity was detected in the "asphalt production" tender held in different neighborhoods in 2022. It was revealed that the approximate cost commission set the cost at 10 million 167 thousand TL based on high bids without conducting a market research, thereby causing 3 million 302 thousand TL in public damage. Additionally, it was determined that the clear organic link between the companies participating in the tender was disregarded by the commission despite the obligation to review it.
OPERATION CARRIED OUT IN 4 PROVINCES
In simultaneous operations carried out in 4 provinces centered in Istanbul; Public Works Director İsmail Kurtuluş, along with Seçkin Özcan, Salman Kalmaz, Nevzat Yalçın, Dursun Yavuz, Kemal Baki, Kemal Kenar, Gülay Güneş, Burak Güneş, Furkan Karaca, Behçet Hırdar, Celal Hırdar, and Mustafa Timur were detained. It was learned that another suspect in the file is currently in prison as part of another corruption investigation.
After their procedures at the police station, the 12 suspects, who were referred to the courthouse, were arrested by the Duty Judge of Peace.
