Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced that a total of 145 flights were carried out at Esenboga Airport and Ankara Airport between July 6-8 as part of the NATO Ankara Summit. Stating that 83 landings and 62 takeoffs were safely completed during the summit, Uraloglu emphasized that the modernized Ankara Airport played a significant role in international operations.

Within the scope of the NATO Ankara Summit, a total of 145 flights, including 83 landings and 62 takeoffs, were carried out at two airports in Ankara over 3 days. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the operations were completed safely and without interruption.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu provided information on air traffic within the framework of the 36th NATO Summit of Heads of State and Government, hosted by Turkey in Ankara on July 7-8.

Uraloğlu stated that a total of 145 flight movements took place at Esenboğa Airport and Ankara Airport between July 6-8.

83 LANDINGS, 62 TAKEOFFS

Within the scope of the summit, on July 6, there were 26 flights including 20 landings and 6 takeoffs, and on July 7, 57 flights including 52 landings and 5 takeoffs.

On the last day of the summit, July 8, takeoff traffic intensified. A total of 62 flights, including 11 landings and 51 takeoffs, were conducted at the two airports.

82 FLIGHTS AT ANKARA AIRPORT

Uraloğlu stated that 82 flights, including 44 landings and 38 takeoffs, were completed without issues at Ankara Airport, while 63 flights, including 39 landings and 24 takeoffs, were completed at Esenboğa Airport.

Minister Uraloğlu said, “We have safely and uninterruptedly maintained flight operations within the scope of the NATO Ankara Summit with our air traffic services provided at international standards and our strong operational coordination.”

RUNWAY EXPANDED, APRON CAPACITY INCREASED

Ankara Airport, inaugurated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on June 15, was made ready to serve national and international operations through modernization efforts.

Within the scope of the work, the runway, which was 2,450 meters long and 42 meters wide, was extended to 3,000 meters in length and 60 meters in width. Additionally, with a new apron area of 160,000 square meters, a capacity was created allowing approximately 44 aircraft to park simultaneously.
