Following President Erdoğan's statement aimed at improving the situation of retirees, details of the new regulation concerning more than 18 million retirees have begun to emerge. According to the formula the AK Party is working on, in addition to the salary increase, granting a welfare share and raising the lowest retirement pension through supplementary payments are being evaluated. The regulation also includes different payment options on the table according to the needs of retirees.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's statement after the cabinet meeting turned the attention of millions of retirees to the regulation expected to be made at the end of the year.
Erdoğan stated that work is being carried out to improve the economic conditions of retirees and said, "In the 2027 budget, we are creating the financial means that will improve the situation of our retirees, who are the crown of our heads."
WELFARE SHARE AND SUPPLEMENTARY PAYMENTS FOR RETIREMENT SALARIES ON THE AGENDA
Details of the planning that AK Party officials are working on have begun to emerge.
Accordingly, options are being evaluated to provide a welfare share in addition to the increase to be made in retirement pensions and to raise the lowest retirement salary through supplementary payments.
While there are 27.5 million premium-paying employees and 18 million retirees in Turkey, it is stated that the regulation to be made will be handled by taking into account the budget possibilities of the Social Security Institution (SGK).
RETIREES' NEEDS WILL BE EXAMINED SEPARATELY
In the work carried out for retirees, regional needs were identified in different cities.
Within this scope, it is planned to separately examine the needs of retirees and the conditions faced by retirees who cannot work.
In the evaluations to be made, it is expected that different options will be considered in line with retirees' economic situations and needs.
OPTION OF SUPPLEMENTARY PAYMENT FOR THOSE RECEIVING THE LOWEST RETIREMENT SALARY
Among the options being worked on is primarily determining a common lower limit for all retirees.
Then, making certain supplementary payments to those receiving the lowest retirement salary may come onto the agenda.
If a welfare share or supplementary payment is implemented, it is stated that the payments may be differentiated according to various criteria.
CEVDET YILMAZ: WE ARE WORKING ON MANY ALTERNATIVES
Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz also made statements regarding the regulation for retirees while answering lawmakers' questions at the GNAT Plan and Budget Committee.
Yılmaz stated that they are working on many alternatives to improve the situation of retirees.
