10 SUSPECTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
An important development occurred in the investigation into the murder of Aydın Özcan, which took place in 2007 in the village of Armutlu in the Kozluk district of Batman and remained unsolved for many years. As a result of the security forces' reviews of past files and technical and physical surveillance efforts, it was assessed that the murder was committed with 'custom and honor motives.' Within the scope of the investigation, a simultaneous operation was carried out in 3 provinces centered in Batman on July 1, 2026, targeting the identified suspects. Ten suspects were detained in the operation.
4 SUSPECTS RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
After their procedures at the Batman Provincial Gendarmerie Command, six of the suspects, who were referred to the courthouse, were arrested by the court on charges of 'premeditated and custom-motivated intentional killing' and sent to the Batman M-Type Closed Penal Execution Institution.
The other 4 suspects were released under judicial control.
