In the Terme district of Samsun, justice was served 19 years after the 2007 murder of Ali Sarıoğlu, who was shot in the head. The cold case investigation teams and gendarmerie units, who reopened the case, traced false leads deliberately made to misdirect the investigation and identified the murder suspects. In a breathtaking operation, 4 of the 5 suspects, all determined to live in the same neighborhood as the victim, were arrested and sent to prison.

The unsolved murder investigation into the shooting death of Ali Sarıoğlu (42) in the Terme district of Samsun in 2007 was resolved 19 years later. Within the scope of the reopened case, 4 of the 5 suspects taken into custody were arrested and sent to prison.

SPECIAL TEAM ACTED YEARS LATER

The incident occurred on September 8, 2007, in the Sütözü neighborhood of Terme district. The investigation launched after Ali Sarıoğlu was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head had remained inconclusive at the time. Years later, the case was reopened under the coordination of the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department within the Ministry of Justice General Directorate of Criminal Affairs, the Samsun Provincial Gendarmerie Command Crime Investigation Team (JASAT), and the Çarşamba Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

SOURCE OF THE MISLEADING TIP IDENTIFIED

In the file re-examined from all aspects by the special teams, a tip made immediately after the murder, considered to have aimed at misdirecting the investigation, was scrutinized. Gendarmerie detectives managed to identify the source of this misleading tip years later. Following technical and physical surveillance, it was determined that the murder suspects lived in the same neighborhood as Ali Sarıoğlu.

IMAGES OF THE DAWN OPERATION REVEALED

Pressing the button, gendarmerie teams detained 4 suspects in their first operation on July 14. With the deepening of the investigation, a fifth suspect was caught on July 15. During searches at the suspects' addresses, 2 pistols, 2 blank-firing pistols, 2 shotguns, 772 pistol rounds, 9 pistol magazines, and 4 mobile phones were seized. The moments of the breathtaking operation carried out by the Provincial Gendarmerie Command teams against the suspects were captured on camera.

4 SUSPECTS BEHIND BARS

After their processing at the gendarmerie, 4 of the 5 suspects referred to the courthouse yesterday were arrested by the duty magistrate and sent to prison. One suspect was released under judicial control. The capture of the suspects in the mysterious murder committed years ago brought a deep sigh of relief to the district.
