Two workers carrying paint materials to the basement of an ongoing construction site in Antalya were affected by the intense odor in the area, where it was stated that fumigation had been carried out the day before and there was also the smell of thinner, causing them to fall ill. While one of the workers regained consciousness shortly, the other worker was rescued from the location with the help of fire and health teams and was taken to the hospital.

THEY FAINTED DUE TO THE INTENSE SMELL
The incident occurred in the basement of a construction site located on 1242 Sokak, Mehmetçik Mahallesi, Muratpaşa district. According to the information obtained, Seyfettin E. and an unnamed worker, who were carrying paint materials to the basement, fainted due to the intense odor in the area. After construction site workers notified the 112 Emergency Call Center, police, fire, and medical teams were dispatched to the address.
One of the workers was removed from the area by his colleagues and quickly regained consciousness, while the other worker was attended to by the teams. The worker, brought out from the basement with the help of firefighters and medical personnel, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial treatment.
"WE PULLED ONE OF THEM OUT OURSELVES"
Construction site worker Yılmaz Uslu, stating that insulation work had been done in the area where the incident occurred, said, "They had done insulation there. We cleaned it two days ago, cleared the water. We think he might have been affected by the thinner. We arrived quickly, notified them. We pulled one of them out ourselves. The place they were carrying to is a water pool, a fire pool." Uslu also noted that pesticide was applied in the basement the day before.
Other workers at the construction site expressed that the area where the paint materials were being carried was used as a water well.
