It has been reported that 25 people have lost their lives due to the extreme heatwave affecting the USA for about a week. According to NBC News, while "heat alerts" have been issued for approximately 40 million people across the country, temperatures reaching 40.5 degrees Celsius are impacting the eastern and southern regions.

OVER 300 PEOPLE VISITED EMERGENCY ROOMS

In New York City, more than 378 people visited emergency rooms due to heat-related illnesses. In New Jersey, 22 people died due to extreme heat, 2 in Mississippi, and 1 in Illinois.

The National Weather Service (NWS) announced that heat warnings will continue in the eastern part of the country, and when combined with humidity, the perceived temperature is expected to reach between 37.7 and 40.5 degrees Celsius in cities such as Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Baltimore, Raleigh, Charleston, and Jacksonville.

SEVERE STORM WARNING ISSUED FOR THE EASTERN PART OF THE COUNTRY

In addition to extreme heat, severe storms and hail are expected in the eastern part of the country. The NWS warned of possible flash floods.

The NWS estimates that approximately 34 million people along the line from Delaware to Connecticut, including New York City, could be affected by floods, and rainfall amounts could reach up to 7.6 centimeters in some places.
