BUTTON PRESSED FOR OPERATION ON JUNE 9

Teams from the İzmir Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch pressed the button for a large-scale operation on June 9, following allegations of irregularities in tenders and direct procurement at Ege University. According to the claims in the investigation file and the Court of Accounts reports, it was determined that institutional administrators created an organized structure within the university after 2019.

3 BILLION 100 MILLION LIRA PUBLIC DAMAGE

In the investigation details, it was revealed that only personnel who would unconditionally carry out given orders were assigned at the Revolving Fund Enterprise Directorate, while company executives doing business with the university and close to the administration acted almost like institutional administrators, exercising authority. It was determined that public officials who rejected the unlawful orders given by institutional administrators were systematically removed from their units, and it was understood that in the tenders and direct procurements carried out, work was continuously assigned to the same companies without conducting a real market research or approximate cost determination. As a result of these systematically conducted unlawful transactions, a total of 3 billion 100 million lira in public damage was identified.
