GOVERNOR GÜL AND CBRT GOVERNOR KARAHAN ALSO ATTENDED THE CEREMONY

Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye Dr. Fatih Karahan, Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Murat Mücahit Yentür, Chairman of the Board of the Century-Old Schools Foundation Hanefi Alper Alkaç, Principal of Kabataş Boys' High School Dr. Muharrem Bayrak, teachers, families of the students, and foundation officials attended the ceremony. The keys to the cars were given to the students by Istanbul Governor Davut Gül, Central Bank Governor Dr. Fatih Karahan, and the protocol committee.

"STUDENTS, TEACHERS, AND ALUMNI ARE IMPORTANT"

Speaking at the award ceremony, Istanbul Governor Davut Gül said, "In fact, the schools we call century-old schools are the most successful schools in Istanbul academically. It is not just the building that ensures success. It is the students, teachers, parents, and more importantly, the alumni. The alumni's adoption of the school elevates the students and the quality of education in schools a notch higher. Each of them produces significant values and does great work with their alumni associations, parents, teachers, and students. There was a gap to bring these together and to spread this even further. Our Century-Old Schools Foundation will hopefully eliminate this gap by expanding the framework even more."

"THERE IS STILL DISTANCE TO COVER"

Governor Gül said, "Success is valuable, but crowning this success with conscience and compassion is even more valuable. A success not crowned with conscience and compassion, God forbid, can lead you as far as cruelty. What makes you who you are and what will set you apart from others is preserving that sense of compassion and conscience. No matter what anyone says, our education system in Türkiye is one of the few education systems in the world. How do we know this? When we look at Türkiye's development criteria compared to its rivals, it is a country rapidly closing the gap. So how did we close it? Did we have great natural riches? No, we didn't. Did we occupy a place? We didn't. Did we exploit someone's goods or property? Thank God, we didn't. It was with our human capital. If human capital is not educated, if human capital remains uneducated, it means nothing. So, over the century, we provided a good education, a quality education, and as a result, we have come this far with what you, those before you, and those before us have built upon. Is it enough? Of course, it is not enough. Is there still distance to cover? Of course, there is. Hopefully, this distance will be closed as you and those after you carry this flag further, and we will take the lead."

"DO NOT NEGLECT TO QUESTION"

The Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, Dr. Fatih Karahan, said, "Until today, in the exams you have taken, the aim was to find the correct answers to the questions before you. In your future life, you will see that sometimes what is more important than the correct answer is asking the right question. So, preserve your curiosity. Do not hesitate to say 'I don't know.' Ask questions. Just as much as learning new things, please do not neglect to question the things you think you know. Listen to people who think differently from you. It is very important to have the self-confidence to reevaluate even an idea you are very sure of when necessary. We are in a world where access to information is becoming increasingly easier, and in such a world, it is not just how much you know that will make the difference; in fact, it is how you think, what questions you ask and how you ask them, and how quickly you can learn that will determine it. Dear young people, your success today is very valuable. Be proud of it, but know that this is not a destination, but a beautiful beginning. Preserve the diligence you have shown so far and the will to say 'No' when necessary. Never lose your curiosity either, and most importantly, use all of this not only for your own success but for greater purposes."

Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye Dr. Fatih Karahan

"WE SEE OUR YOUTH AS GENERATIONS WHO WILL GUIDE THE WAY"

The Chairman of the Board of the Century-Old Schools Foundation, Hanefi Alper Alkaç, said, "As the Century-Old Schools Foundation, we see our youth not only as today's graduates but as generations who will build tomorrow's Türkiye and guide many more of their siblings under the roof of this foundation. We trust our young people not only because of the successes they have achieved in the past but also because of their dreams for the future and their determination to turn those dreams into reality. We want them not only to enter good universities and acquire good professions but also to be people who shape our country's future, develop it, produce, and add value to our society. This is exactly the core vision of the Century-Old Schools Foundation: to stand by the youth, to trust them, to clear their path, and to rebuild, together with all stakeholders, an educational environment where they can realize their potential."

"I AM A PERSON WHO HAS WANTED TO BE A SCIENTIST SINCE I WAS 4 YEARS OLD"

Eylül Uyar, who came first in the German language section of the Foreign Language Test (YDT), said, "I got into Boğaziçi University's Molecular Biology and Genetics department. I wanted to work in basic sciences. I am a person who has wanted to be a scientist since I was 4 years old, and it is a field I am interested in. That's why I chose it. From now on, I will do my research; I don't know what I will do. I am very happy and surprised. I am very happy that our success was rewarded in this way. Şerif Efe Dartar, the top scorer in the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) and Field Proficiency Test (AYT) in the numerical category, said, "I chose Koç University Industrial Engineering. My main motivation in choosing this department is that I want to work in management consulting in the future.
