ANNOUNCED RETIREMENT DECISION
The 30-year-old footballer announced in a podcast that he will retire from football, and Borussia Dortmund confirmed Süle's decision on its official website.
INJURY INFLUENCED THE DECISION
The experienced center-back said that the fear of a serious injury he experienced was behind his decision. Süle stated that he thought he had suffered a cruciate ligament injury after the Hoffenheim match, saying, "I went into the shower and cried for 10 minutes."
"EVERYTHING ENDED FOR ME AT THAT MOMENT"
Süle said that while the MRI results showed no serious tear, he made the decision to retire at that moment anyway. The German player said, "I couldn't think of anything worse than having to face a third cruciate ligament tear. I want to spend more time with my family."

Süle, who started his football career at the Walldorf youth academy, played for Hoffenheim, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund. The experienced defender made a total of 447 appearances in his career, scoring 22 goals and providing 15 assists.
