While claims that Afyonkarahisar Mayor Burcu Köksal will switch to the AK Party shook the political agenda, Köksal, who had remained silent, made her first statement. Expressing that she was tired of the process within the CHP, Köksal said, 'I was not elected to fight on both sides. All of Turkey has learned everything.'
The Mayor of Afyonkarahisar, Burcu Köksal, who has been on the agenda with allegations that she will switch to the AK Party, made striking statements about the CHP in an interview with tv100. Köksal said, “I was not elected to fight on two fronts. But I am tired of fighting the CHP.”
“I WANTED TO SERVE MY HOMELAND”
While the rumors that she would switch from the CHP to the AK Party caused widespread reverberations in the political agenda, Burcu Köksal spoke to tv100 for the first time. Journalist Murat Kelkitlioğlu relayed Köksal’s statements on tv100's program “Başak Şengül ile Doğru Yorum”.
According to Kelkitlioğlu, Köksal stated that she did not want to talk much about the process, but her words seemed to prove the rumors true. Köksal implicitly confirmed that the gossip was real by saying, “All of Turkey has learned everything.”
Köksal, who has been one of the most talked-about names in politics recently, used the following expressions:
“I do not want to talk too much during this process. All of Turkey has learned everything. I was not elected to fight on two fronts. I gave up my parliamentary seat to become a mayor in order to serve my homeland.”
“THE CHP EXHAUSTED ME A LOT”
In her statement, Burcu Köksal emphasized that her main goal is to serve Afyonkarahisar, drawing attention with her words, “I wanted to serve. My effort is to serve my homeland. But the CHP exhausted me a lot.”
BARIS YARKADAS EXPLAINED THE REASON FOR HER DISAPPOINTMENT
Former CHP deputy and journalist Barış Yarkadaş, speaking on the subject, explained the reason for Köksal’s grievances. Yarkadaş conveyed that Köksal said, “CHP members insulted me, and no action was taken.”
Yarkadaş stated, “Burcu Köksal spoke to my friend. She said, ‘I was insulted, especially on social media, by people I know are CHP members. I collected all of these and sent them to the relevant disciplinary boards of the CHP. Despite this, no action was taken against the CHP members. Moreover, when these people submitted their defenses, they openly declared that they stood by those insults. This case was closed without any action, and it hurt me a lot. These people are still continuing their insults on social media.’”
