The Istanbul Police Department detained 34 suspects who were determined to be engaged in usury in simultaneous operations across 7 provinces. During the operation, 10 thousand dollars, numerous checks, and an unlicensed pistol were seized.
In a usury operation conducted in 7 provinces centered in Istanbul, 34 suspects were detained. Under the coordination of the Bakırköy Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch Directorate carried out an operation to capture those engaged in usury activities by lending money in exchange for interest through check discounting.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION CONDUCTED
After conducting technical and physical surveillance, the teams organized simultaneous operations in Istanbul, İzmir, Siirt, Balıkesir, Bitlis, Muğla, and Kocaeli to apprehend the suspects whose identities and addresses had been determined.
During the operation, 34 suspects were captured, and searches at the addresses yielded 10 thousand dollars, numerous checks and promissory notes, and an unlicensed pistol.
The suspects were taken to the police station for processing.
