The trial of Enes Koçak, who stabbed and killed 18-year-old Serdar Bayar at a police station over allegations that Bayar harassed his cousin in Konya, has begun. In his defense, Koçak stated, 'When I entered, I saw Serdar. Seeing him reminded me of what he had done, and I couldn't help it—I took out the knife. I don't remember how many times I swung the knife; I had lost control, everything happened in an instant.'
It occurred in Konya around 01:00 on October 23, 2025. Serdar Bayar (18) was taken to the police station on allegations of harassing R.N.K. (16). Upon learning of the situation, R.N.K.'s uncle Seyfettin Koçak and his son Enes Koçak (22) went to the police station. Enes Koçak wounded Serdar Bayar, whom he encountered at the police station, with 8 stab wounds to his back, 7 of which were fatal. Serdar Bayar lost his life at the hospital. Enes Koçak, his father Seyfettin Koçak, and his brother Mahmud Sami Koçak, who is alleged to be connected to the incident, were detained by the police. Following procedures at the police station, Enes Koçak and his father Seyfettin Koçak, who were referred to the courthouse, were arrested, while Mahmud Sami Koçak was released under judicial control conditions.
The killed Serdar Bayar (18) TRIAL PROCESS BEGAN The trial of Enes Koçak, who was arrested after the incident, his father Seyfettin Koçak, and his non-detained brother Mahmud Sami Koçak began at the Konya 2nd High Criminal Court. In his defense, Enes Koçak stated that when they learned his cousin R.N.K. was missing, they went to Serdar Bayar's address during their search and returned after an argument occurred.
"I COULDN'T CONTROL MYSELF" Stating that on the day of the incident, he also went to the police station with his father Seyfettin Koçak to give a statement, Enes Koçak said, "When I went inside, I saw Serdar. When I saw him, what he had done came to my mind and I couldn't bear it, I took out the knife. I don't remember how many times I swung the knife, I had lost control, everything happened in an instant. I couldn't control myself. I didn't even see my father during this. I had bought the knife from the market after they pulled a screwdriver on me when I went to Serdar's house to search for my cousin. The knife was on me ever since. I was carrying it just in case. I regret it, I had no intention of killing."
"I DID NOT SEE THE KNIFE IN ENES'S HAND" Father Seyfettin Koçak, in his defense, said they went to Serdar Bayar's house to search for his niece R.N.K. and left after an argument occurred. Narrating that on the day of the incident, he went to the police station with his son Enes Koçak, Koçak said, "When we went to the police station, there were 2 or 3 policemen. We said, 'We came to give a statement to the police.' When I went inside, I first thought Serdar was a policeman. Serdar had tattoos on his arm. When I saw the tattoo, I lost control, he had done these tattoos to my niece as well. Then I couldn't control myself and started hitting Serdar, but I did not see the knife in Enes's hand, I saw the knife when the police held us, if I had seen the knife I wouldn't have brought it to the police station." The court panel adjourned the hearing after listening to the witnesses.
"THEY BRUTALLY MURDERED MY SON AT THE POLICE STATION" Speaking after the hearing, Serdar Bayar's mother Yurdanur Bayar explained that two days before the incident, Seyfettin Koçak and Enes Koçak came to their house to search for R.N.K. and left after an argument and threats. Mother Bayar said, "After they came to our house and left, we had gone to the police station on the allegation of a kidnapping incident. I saw them there again. My son also said to them, 'Is there something, a problem? If there is a problem, solve it with me. If it's the hospital, the hospital. If a problem arises concerning me, I will serve my sentence.' The other party said to my son, 'I'm telling you two. I won't say three. Count two, don't count three.' And on that third day, they brutally murdered him at the police station."
Serdar Bayar's mother Yurdanur Bayar ALLEGATION: "THE FATHER WRAPPED THE KNIFE IN A NAPKIN AND HANDED IT OVER" The family's lawyer, Mehmet Fatih Soylu, reminded that security camera footage showing father Seyfettin Koçak taking the knife wrapped in a napkin with him as he left his workplace was presented as evidence to the court. Claiming that father Koçak later gave the knife to his son and that they committed the crime with premeditation, Soylu said, "It is established by the footage that an object is wrapped inside the napkin. The fact that the knife used in the murder was also wrapped in a napkin during the commission of the murder shows that the footage is consistent. We believe that two different types of crimes were committed, also due to the fact that the act perpetrated by the defendants against my client, who was sitting in the middle of the police station handcuffed and defenseless, was 'committed against a person unable to defend themselves physically and mentally'."
