In the Çeşme district of İzmir, four suspects who were detained in connection with the fatal shooting of Can Polat, a cousin of Engin Polat and a bodyguard for social media influencer Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat, have been arrested.
A new development has occurred in the investigation regarding the killing of Can Polat, who worked as a bodyguard for social media phenomenon Dilan Polat and her husband Engin Polat in Izmir's Cesme district, and is also Engin Polat's cousin, in an armed attack. Four suspects identified as connected to the incident were arrested and sent to prison by the court.
ARMED ATTACK IN FRONT OF HOTEL
The incident took place on June 3 in the Alacati neighborhood of Cesme. Can Polat, who was in front of the hotel where Dilan and Engin Polat were staying, was subjected to an armed attack by an identified assailant. The 37-year-old Polat, shot in the chest, was taken to the hospital in serious condition but could not be saved despite all medical interventions.
ALLEGED AMBUSH AFTER HOURS OF WAITING
According to information obtained during the investigation, it is claimed that the assailant waited in the area of the hotel from the early morning hours of the incident day and targeted Can Polat. Following the attack, which occurred while the Polat family was preparing to return to Istanbul, the suspect fled the scene.
SUSPECTS CAPTURED ONE BY ONE
After the murder, police teams launched an extensive operation and quickly captured the suspect considered to be the perpetrator along with the weapon used. As the investigation deepened, other suspects identified as connected to the incident were also taken into custody.
4 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
After their procedures at the police station, the 4 suspects were referred to the courthouse and arrested by the court following prosecutor's questioning. While the suspects were sent to prison, it was learned that the investigation continues to uncover the motive for the murder and possible connections in the incident.
