Fenerbahçe, which strengthened its squad with important names during the transfer period, has also turned to departures to make room in the foreign quota and salary budget. While the total fee of 45.5 million euros paid by the yellow-navy team for Cengiz Ünder, Sofyan Amrabat, Diego Carlos, and Anthony Musaba drew attention, the departure of these players without generating any transfer income caused great disappointment.
Following a busy transfer period at Fenerbahçe, significant changes occurred in the squad. The yellow-navy management, which brought new names to the team, also parted ways with players who were not considered for the squad.
It was noteworthy that Fenerbahçe, aiming to free up space in the foreign quota and salary budget, parted ways with some footballers it had recently added to its squad for significant fees without generating any transfer income from them.
15 MILLION EUROS PAID FOR CENGİZ ÜNDER
Fenerbahçe added Cengiz Ünder to its squad in the summer of 2023 for a transfer fee of 15 million euros. This amount was the yellow-navy club's transfer record at the time the transfer took place. After terminating his contract with Fenerbahçe, the national footballer transferred to Çorum FK.
AMRABAT'S COST WAS 14 MILLION EUROS
Another name the yellow-navy team made a significant investment in was Sofyan Amrabat. A total of 14 million euros was paid for the Moroccan midfielder, including the loan and transfer fees. After parting ways with Fenerbahçe, Amrabat signed for Ajax.
DIEGO CARLOS PLAYED ONLY 5 MATCHES
Diego Carlos, whom Fenerbahçe transferred from Aston Villa in January 2025 for 11.5 million euros, was also among those who left. The experienced centre-back, who played only 5 matches wearing the yellow-navy jersey, was loaned to Parma without receiving any loan fee.
MUSABA ALSO SENT ON LOAN
Anthony Musaba, whom Fenerbahçe added to its squad from Samsunspor for 5 million euros during the mid-season break of last season, also did not stay with the team. Musaba was sent to Norwich City without receiving any loan fee.
Thus, while the total investment made for Cengiz Ünder, Sofyan Amrabat, Diego Carlos, and Anthony Musaba reached 45.5 million euros, no transfer or loan income was obtained from the departures of the four players.
ÇAĞLAR AND BECAO COULD BE NEXT
It is stated that departures at Fenerbahçe may continue. It is indicated that Çağlar Söyüncü, who cost 10.5 million euros including the loan fee, and Rodrigo Becao, for whose transfer 8.3 million euros were paid, are among the players who could leave the team.
If these two footballers also depart in a similar manner, the total cost of the players Fenerbahçe added to its squad by paying high fees but later parted ways with will increase much further.
