With TUIK announcing August inflation, the initial picture has emerged for the January 2027 raise for civil servants, retired civil servants, and SSI and Bağ-Kur retirees. According to July and August data, the two-month increase for SSI and Bağ-Kur retirees was 3.62 percent, while four months of inflation data remain to determine the final raise rate.

With the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announcing the August inflation data, the initial tables for the salary raises that civil servants, retired civil servants, and SGK and Bağ-Kur retirees will receive in January 2027 have begun to take shape. With the first two months of data for the second half of the year now available, four months of inflation data remain before the final salary increase rates are determined.

AUGUST INFLATION REALIZED AT 1.84 PERCENT

According to TurkStat data, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.84 percent on a monthly basis and 31.51 percent on an annual basis in August 2026. In the previous month, July, inflation was recorded at 1.78 percent monthly and 31.75 percent annually. With the addition of the August data to the table, the two-month cumulative inflation rate for the second half of the year reached 3.62 percent.

RAISE TABLE FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND RETIRED CIVIL SERVANTS

In light of the announced data, a raise of 3.66 percent has already been guaranteed for civil servants and retired civil servants for January 2027. As is known, inflation in the first six-month period of this year was 17.76 percent, and due to this rate, along with an additional increase of 6.52 percent, public officials and retired civil servants received a total raise of 13.52 percent effective from July.

RATE CONFIRMED FOR SGK AND BAĞ-KUR RETIREES: 3.62 PERCENT

For SGK and Bağ-Kur retirees, who are entitled to a raise directly equal to the six-month inflation rate, the raise rate confirmed with the July and August inflation data is 3.62 percent. SGK and Bağ-Kur retirees had received their July raise at the rate of the 17.76 percent cumulative inflation in the first half of the year.

WHAT WILL THE JANUARY 2027 RETIREMENT SALARY INCREASE BE?

According to the results of the Central Bank's Market Participants Survey, in light of year-end inflation expectations, with the addition of data for the remaining 4 months (September, October, November, December), the final raise rate for SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in January 2027 is projected to be between 10% and 15%.

HOW IS THE INFLATION DIFFERENCE CALCULATED?

The inflation difference to be reflected in the salaries of civil servants and retired civil servants is calculated based on the six-month data from the July-December period. This group will receive the 5 percent raise arising from the collective bargaining agreement in January 2027. However, since the inflation figures emerging as of August have not yet exceeded the collective bargaining raise limit, civil servants and retired civil servants have not yet earned an inflation difference as of now.
