In Zeytinburnu, Tuğba Onur (46) lost her life during a liposuction surgery at a private hospital. Murat Onur (46), who alleged that his wife died due to a wrong intervention, stated that he filed a complaint against the hospital and those responsible in the incident. Onur said, "We later learned that similar adverse situations had occurred at this hospital before and that many people had been victimized."

The incident occurred at around 16:00 at a private hospital located on Professor Doctor Turan Güneş Street in Çırpıcı Neighborhood. Tuğba Onur lost her life during a liposuction surgery at a private hospital. Upon receiving the tragic news, Murat Onur alleged that his wife lost her life due to a wrong intervention during the surgery. It was learned that hospital officials did not want to make a statement on the matter.

THE DOCTOR NEVER SAW THE PATIENT BEFORE THE SURGERY

Murat Onur said, "We came to the hospital at 08:30 in the morning. A liposuction procedure was to be performed. They said they would take my wife into surgery, but we waited until 15:30. When the doctor arrived, my wife was taken into surgery. The doctor had never seen my wife before the surgery. About 1 hour later, he came to me and said they had performed resuscitation on my wife (an emergency intervention to restore oxygenated blood flow to vital organs). He stated that her heart had stopped and she could not be brought back to life. I am also a health officer. I went to the operating room and participated in the resuscitation procedure performed on my wife. After the interventions, it was reported that my wife had lost her life. I filed a complaint against the hospital and those responsible in the incident. We are currently waiting for the prosecutor's instruction. We want the forensic medicine process to begin and the necessary procedures regarding the incident to be carried out."

HOW CAN AN ANESTHESIOLOGIST LEAVE THE HOSPITAL

Onur said, "Right now, no one from the hospital management or the doctors is around. The hospital is open, but we cannot find anyone to talk to. They said the anesthesiologist was not at the hospital and had gone home. In a procedure performed under general anesthesia, how can the anesthesiologist leave the hospital? Who will be responsible in this incident? Who will pursue our rights? We later learned that similar adverse situations had occurred at this hospital before and that many people had been victimized. We also had no prior knowledge of this matter."

HER TESTS HAD BEEN DONE 1 WEEK EARLIER

Stating that his wife had no health problems, Onur said, "She was working as a patient care attendant at Darülaceze. Just 1 week earlier, her general examinations through the institution had been completed. She did not have a chronic illness either. We were told to be at the hospital at 08:30 in the morning. We stayed hungry and thirsty throughout the night. We came to the hospital in the morning, made our application, and paid our fee. We waited for the doctor until 15:30. After the doctor arrived, my wife was taken into surgery without him having consulted with her before the surgery. After the procedure, which did not last more than 1 hour, we lost my wife. I expected the doctor to see his patient before the surgery. I asked, 'Where is the doctor? Isn't he going to see his patient?' I thought the procedure to be performed should be explained to the patient. However, my wife was taken into surgery before speaking with the doctor."
