According to Yonhap, an explosion occurred at the Hanwha Aerospace factory, a defense industry company in Daejeon, at 10:59 local time. Firefighters were dispatched to the facility where a fire broke out after the explosion.
Authorities stated that 5 people died at the scene of the explosion, and 2 people were injured, one of them seriously.
EXPLOSION OCCURRED DURING CLEANING
The explosion is believed to have occurred while workers were conducting cleaning activities related to explosive materials. An investigation has been launched into the incident. South Korean President Lee Jae Myung instructed that all available resources be mobilized for rescue operations.
