The Ministry of Interior announced that 63 people—33 sought with a Red Notice and 30 wanted at the national level—were captured in 8 countries between September 23 and October 23 and extradited to Turkey. Of the fugitives, 49 were brought from Georgia, 5 from Germany, 3 from Greece, and 2 from Kyrgyzstan. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi said, “Turkey does not leave the trail of the criminal it pursues at the border.”

MANY UNITS WORKED JOINTLY

The statement noted that the operations were carried out by the General Directorate of Security (EGM) Interpol-Europol Department, Ministry of Justice officials, the Smuggling and Organized Crime (KOM), Intelligence and Anti-Narcotics departments, and the Cyber, Public Order and Anti-Terror (TEM) departments. The Ministry said, “We continue to catch and bring back to our country members of organized crime organizations and drug traffickers whom we seek via Red Notice and at national level.”

MINISTER ÇİFTÇİ: THE NET IS TIGHTENING BEYOND BORDERS

Minister of Interior Mustafa Çiftçi also made a statement by quoting the Ministry’s post. Noting that the cooperation network established through security diplomacy yields results in the field, Çiftçi said:

“Fugitives with arrest warrants think they can erase their traces by fleeing abroad. They see borders as a shield and distances as assurance. The ringleaders of criminal networks, drug traffickers and fugitives with arrest warrants who think fleeing abroad is salvation should know this well: Türkiye does not leave the trail of the criminal it pursues at the border! Crossing the border only changes the address where we will find you! Whichever country you flee to, we will dismantle your criminal networks and bring the evil order you established down on your heads! Neither your dirty money, nor your dirty connections, nor thousands of kilometers of distance will save you!”

Çiftçi congratulated the EGM units and police officers who contributed to the work, and thanked the members of the Ministry of Justice who contributed to the extradition processes and the law enforcement agencies of the cooperating countries.
