The accident occurred on Tuesday, November 3, on 240th Street in Marmara Neighborhood. According to information obtained, a car struck Ahmet Duran Darendeoğlu, who was trying to cross the road. Darendeoğlu, who was thrown and fell to the ground by the impact of the collision, was seriously injured. Darendeoğlu, who was taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial intervention at the scene, is still being treated.
HIS SON RECOUNTED: HIS ENTIRE BODY WAS PARALYZED
Gökhan Darendeoğlu, son of Darendeoğlu, said, "Around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, my father, there by the trash can visible behind us, first carefully checks his right and left before crossing to go home. After seeing that no vehicle was coming, he starts to cross. When he reaches the middle of the road, a car coming quickly from the beginning of the street hits my father. We rush my father to the hospital. After we take him to the hospital, police teams arrive. Because the incident had just happened and my father's condition was not yet clear, no report could be issued about him at that time. Thereupon, the police teams, noting in a report that although he was conscious, he was not in a condition to give a statement, leave the hospital. In our opinion, I think the on-duty prosecutor also, thinking that there was no serious situation, releases the driver who caused the accident. At the moment, my father's entire body is paralyzed due to the trauma and damage that occurred in his spinal cord. There are 3 separate bleedings in his brain that have not yet been stopped. There are fractures in his left arm, left leg, and left hip at a level requiring surgery. Intervention is also being carried out due to the bleedings in his brain. We think that the person who caused this accident has not received his share of humanity. They did not even deign to reach out to say get well soon to us. We feel great discomfort because this person is sitting comfortably at home as if nothing had happened."
