The district governorate in İslahiye, Gaziantep, signed a protocol with fuel stations to provide a 5% discount on fuel for motorcyclists wearing helmets.

To prevent injuries and fatalities in motorcycle accidents, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of İslahiye District Governor Mehmet Soylu with the owners of 9 fuel businesses in the district to facilitate discounted fuel for motorcyclists wearing helmets.

5% DISCOUNT FOR MOTORCYCLISTS

With the signed protocol, a 5% discount will be applied to motorcyclists who come to refuel with their helmets on for a period of 3 months starting from January 1. In his speech at the protocol ceremony, Governor Soylu noted that 9 riders lost their lives and nearly 200 were injured in 165 motorcycle accidents that occurred in İslahiye in 2024.

Stating that they have initiated a project that will serve as an example for both the region and Turkey, Soylu added: "The fundamental rule to prevent deaths and injuries in accidents is to wear these helmets. We are taking all necessary precautions through security forces. We are also implementing various social responsibility projects. Starting from the New Year, our fellow citizens who come to the fuel station wearing helmets will benefit from a 5% discount, and I believe that shortly after this discount, they will have money left over to buy helmets.
