A CORPSE CAUGHT ON THE HOOK

The incident occurred around 4:00 PM on Akdeniz Boulevard Konyaaltı beach in the Meltem neighborhood of Muratpaşa district. According to the information obtained, Metehan I. and Can I., who came to the beach to fish, noticed a heavy weight caught on their line when they cast their lines about 50-60 meters offshore.

The two friends, struggling to pull the line, thought they had caught a big fish and asked nearby citizens for help. When the line they pulled reached the shore, it was seen that what was caught was not a fish but a male corpse. Upon reporting the situation, the ALGE Private Security teams working on the beach notified the 112 Emergency Call Center.

THE CORPSE BELONGS TO A 23-YEAR-OLD MALE

Following the notification, health, security, Coast Guard, and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Crime scene investigation teams and the prosecutor worked on the beach. An identity card registered to 23-year-old İbrahim Ethem Uysal was found on the corpse. After the examinations were completed, the corpse was sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution for autopsy. Citizens pulled the body out of the sea.

Osman Mütevellioğlu, one of the citizens who helped the fishermen, said, "While the friends were casting and pulling, their lines got caught. We thought it was a big fish. They couldn't pull it out. Then they asked for help. We went, looked, and it was a corpse. We pulled it out with the friends there. We took the corpse out and informed the police." An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
