After the detention of Ümit Özdağ, the General Chairman of the Victory Party, in Ankara, a statement from the party said, "We invite all supporters of the Victory Party and Ümit Özdağ to gather in front of the Vatan Police Department building in the Fatih District of Istanbul starting from 11:00 PM." It was reported that Özdağ would spend the night at the Vatan Police Department and would be taken to the Çağlayan Courthouse for questioning at 9:00 AM.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against the Chairman of the Victory Party, Ümit Özdağ, on the grounds of insulting the President due to remarks he made about President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during his party's provincial chairpersons' consultation meeting on January 19, 2025. Özdağ was detained at a restaurant in Ankara where he was having dinner as part of the investigation. It has been reported that Ümit Özdağ was brought to Istanbul after a health check.
