The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting an investigation into allegations of "vote buying" during the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress held on November 4-5, 2023. Hakkari delegates of the party, Kemal Ölmez and Nazım Demir, provided testimony as witnesses.
"CONFESSION FROM A CHP DELEGATE ABOUT THE 'CONGRESS'"
In the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Kemal Ölmez, who testified to the prosecutor, stated that he was a Hakkari delegate at the 38th CHP Ordinary Congress and that he witnessed delegates receiving calls from different numbers during the congress to change their votes.
"WE WERE ASKED TO VOTE FOR ÖZGÜR ÖZEL IN EXCHANGE FOR 600 THOUSAND LIRA"
Ölmez noted that he also received a call on his personal line while in Ankara, saying, "I do not know the callers, but we were asked to vote for Özgür Özel, one of the candidates. In return, we were offered 600 thousand lira and mobile phones, and we did not accept any of them."
Ölmez, who later stated that he was expelled by the newly elected party administration, expressed his willingness to have the HTS records examined to find out who was using the phone lines that called him at that time. Witness Nazım Demir claimed that he was the Hakkari CHP provincial chairman during the congress period and alleged that money, positions, and titles were offered to delegates at that time.
"THEY HIRED THOSE WHO VOTED FOR ÖZGÜR ÖZEL"
Demir stated: "I learned that Mehmet Fatih Taş, the son of CHP Hakkari Central District Chairman Hurşit Taş, was hired by the İzmir Karşıyaka Municipality a few days before the congress. I know that if votes were cast for the candidate Özgür Özel, certain benefits like hiring were provided. We heard that different offers were made to various individuals regarding this matter."
