The Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Trade captured an endangered 'gorilla baby' during an inspection at Istanbul Airport. The gorilla baby was handed over to the relevant authorities.

The Customs Protection teams of the Ministry of Trade captured an endangered "gorilla baby" at Istanbul Airport.

According to a statement from the Ministry, the teams of the Istanbul Airport Customs Protection Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate monitored a cage-type cargo originating from Nigeria and destined for Bangkok as part of risk analysis studies conducted for the protection of living beings and natural life.

In the examination conducted by the teams, it was determined that the cage-type box contained an endangered species listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), specifically "gorilla gorilla." The gorilla baby was handed over to the relevant units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
