Thailand is making a change to the visa-free stay period applied to citizens of more than 60 countries, including Turkey. As of September 15, the 60-day visa-free stay will be reduced to 30 days. The decision, taken on the grounds of security and fighting crime, will also directly affect Turkish citizens planning long-term holidays in Thailand.
A new decision has been made that closely concerns Turkish tourists from Thailand. The 60-day visa-free stay period for travel to the country will be reduced to 30 days as of September 15.
TURKISH CITIZENS ARE ALSO ON THE LIST
The Thai government has decided to make changes to the entry and accommodation conditions for foreign visitors. According to the regulation announced by the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visa-free stay right for visitors from more than 60 countries and regions will be reduced from 60 days to 30 days. Citizens of the Republic of Turkey are also among the countries affected by the new practice. Thus, the current 60-day stay period for Turkish citizens traveling to Thailand without a visa will be halved.
NEW PRACTICE WILL START ON SEPTEMBER 15
The new regulation is planned to take effect as of September 15. The decision covers Turkey, as well as China, the USA, and 27 European Union member countries. Under the current practice, more than 90 countries are offered a 60-day visa-free stay. While the new system is expected to narrow the scope of this practice, uncertainty continues regarding the conditions that about 20 countries will be subject to.
