The Head of the Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality Technical Affairs Department, Abdulkadir Baytimur, died after 2 days of treatment in the hospital where he was admitted following an alleged suicide attempt with a firearm.
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred in the Karşıyaka neighborhood of the Karaköprü district. Abdulkadir Baytimur, who served as the Head of the Technical Affairs Department at Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, allegedly attempted suicide with a firearm at his home. Baytimur, seriously injured, was taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial intervention by health teams who arrived at the scene.

Baytimur, who had been fighting for his life for 2 days at Mehmet Akif İnan Training and Research Hospital, could not be saved despite doctors' intervention and died. Baytimur's body was taken to the Şanlıurfa Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy procedures. It was learned that Baytimur, who previously served as the Head of the Real Estate and Expropriation Department, was appointed to the Technical Affairs Department in 2024.
