The Deposit Refund System (DRS) has been implemented in 81 provinces and 973 districts as of today. Citizens who return DRS-labeled glass, plastic, and aluminum beverage packaging will receive 1 TL per package. Refund amounts can be transferred to bank accounts, withdrawn as cash from ATMs, or used for shopping at contracted markets and businesses.
The Deposit Refund System, coordinated by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and carried out by the Turkish Environment Agency (TÜÇA), has been launched simultaneously in 81 provinces and 973 districts.
The system aims to increase recycling rates and reintroduce waste into the economy.
1 TL WILL BE PAID FOR EACH PACKAGE
Under the new application, only plastic (PET), glass, and aluminum beverage packaging bearing the DOA logo will be included in the system.
Citizens will be entitled to receive 1 TL refund for each suitable package by depositing them into deposit refund machines or designated drop-off points. The incentive fee, previously applied as 25 kuruş, has also been raised to 1 TL with the new system.
MONEY CAN BE TRANSFERRED TO THE ACCOUNT
The amount earned from returned packages will be transferred to the digital wallet in the DOA mobile application.
Citizens can use their accumulated balances to:
- Transfer to IBAN accounts,
- Withdraw cash without a card from contracted bank ATMs,
- Use for shopping at stores and sales points included in the system.
DROP-OFF POINTS EXPANDED
The points where empty packages can be delivered will not be limited to deposit refund machines. Supermarkets, chain stores, grocery stores, kiosks, shopping malls, gas stations, universities, hospitals, as well as hotels, restaurants, and cafes will also serve as drop-off points under the system.
Citizens can find the nearest drop-off point via the "Find Drop-off Point" feature in the DOA mobile application or on the system's official website.
HOW TO USE THE SYSTEM?
Citizens who wish to benefit from the deposit refund must first download the DOA mobile application on their phones and create a membership.
After scanning the QR code generated through the application at the deposit refund machine, suitable packages are placed into the machine. When the process is completed, the earned amount is transferred to the digital wallet within seconds.
