A fire broke out after a passenger bus collided with another vehicle in southern Iraq, killing 25 people and injuring 17 others. It was reported that those killed in the accident were visitors from Basra returning from a pilgrimage to Karbala.

According to local sources, a passenger bus collided with another vehicle on the international highway connecting Iraq's Dhi Qar and Basra provinces.

25 PEOPLE KILLED IN FLAMES, 17 INJURED

A fire broke out on the bus after the accident. Authorities stated that, based on initial investigations, 25 people lost their lives and 17 were injured in the crash. It was noted that the death toll is expected to rise due to the severity of the injuries.

IT WAS CARRYING THOSE RETURNING HOME FROM SHRINE VISITS

It was reported that the deceased and injured were visitors from Basra returning home after visiting shrines in the Karbala province. Dhi Qar Governor Haitham Aziz Hamdani went to the scene to conduct inspections, while authorities launched an investigation into the accident.
