The fire occurred around 06:00 on Santral Street in Kağıthane Ortabayır Neighborhood. The fire, which started in the single-story derelict building for an unknown reason, also spread to the adjacent 5-story building. Upon notification, numerous firefighting, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Police closed the street to traffic, while firefighting teams evacuated residents of the 5-story building as a precaution. Teams intervened quickly and prevented the flames from spreading to other buildings. The fire was brought under control after an hour of intervention and subsequently fully extinguished. During the fire, one woman affected by smoke was taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial medical intervention.
