Due to the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Elazığ, a quarantine has been implemented in three districts. According to a statement from the governorship, the districts of Karakoçan, Kovancılar, and Palu have been placed under quarantine.

3 DISTRICTS PLACED UNDER QUARANTINE

In a statement made by the governorship, it was noted that foot-and-mouth disease type "0" was detected in the districts of Karakoçan, Kovancılar, and Palu. The statement recorded that a quarantine was implemented in a 10-kilometer radius around the areas where the disease was observed.

The statement included the following expressions: “Foot-and-mouth disease coincides with the calving period of animals, leading to some calf deaths in certain enterprises. From the moment the disease was detected, necessary investigations and training activities have been initiated in collaboration with experts from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry's General Directorate of Food Control, the Foot-and-Mouth Disease Institute, and the Elazığ Veterinary Control Research Institute. Vaccination and information activities are being carried out continuously by veterinarians working in our provincial and district directorates. It is of great importance for our producers to inform the provincial or district agricultural directorates as soon as possible if they encounter a suspicious case. There is no harm in consuming animal products due to foot-and-mouth disease.
