More than 1,000 people have been called to evacuate due to forest fires in Japan's Iwate Prefecture. The fires have spread to surrounding buildings, and support has been requested to bring them under control.
It was reported that due to a forest fire breaking out at two different points in Japan's Iwate Prefecture, over 1,000 people were called to evacuate the area.
EVACUATION CALL MADE
According to Kyodo News, local authorities reported that a forest fire broke out in two areas of the prefecture, located about 10 kilometers apart from each other.
Authorities, stating that the fires had spread to surrounding buildings, noted that an evacuation call had been made to over 1,000 local residents.
Authorities also shared that they requested support from the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) to bring the fires under control, and that there have been no casualties or injuries reported so far.
