During a search of a truck with Turkish license plates at Bulgaria's Kapitan Andreevo Customs, 162,700 euros were seized, hidden in compartments under the refrigerator and bed. An investigation has been launched into the undeclared money in the truck, which was reportedly carrying fruit from the Netherlands to Georgia.
At Bulgaria's Kapitan Andreevo Customs Border Crossing, a large amount of undeclared cash was seized in a truck with Turkish license plates that was seeking to pass through the Edirne Kapıkule Border Crossing into Turkey and then on to Georgia.
SUSPICIOUS DENSITY DETECTED DURING X-RAY SCREENING
According to the information obtained, the truck driven by the Turkish driver, who stated that he was transporting fruit he had loaded from the Netherlands to Georgia via the Bulgaria route, arrived at the customs checkpoint. The vehicle, which was taken into detailed inspection within the scope of risk analysis, was sent to the X-ray scanning device.
During the scan, after a suspicious density was detected in the driver's cab section of the truck, customs enforcement teams launched a search.
THEY HID IT UNDER THE REFRIGERATOR AND THE BED
During searches carried out inside the cab, polyethylene bags hidden in the gaps behind the refrigerator and in factory-installed secret compartments under the bed were found. A total of 162,700 euros in cash that was found inside the bags and determined not to have been declared to the customs administration was confiscated.
Following the incident, a judicial and administrative preliminary investigation was launched against the Turkish driver under the supervision of the Svilengrad unit of the Haskovo Regional Prosecutor's Office.
