The Istanbul Governor's Office announced that while efforts are underway to heal the wounds of the October 14 flood, the city will come under the influence of a new strong wave of rainfall starting from the morning of Friday, October 16, warning citizens against the risk of floods, flash floods, and landslides.
As efforts continue to erase the traces of the flood disaster across Istanbul, a new meteorological warning from the Istanbul Governor's Office put citizens on alert. In the statement, it was reported that starting from the morning hours of Friday, October 16, the city would again come under the influence of heavy showers and that adverse conditions would continue on Saturday.
"RAINFALL WILL INCREASE ITS EFFECT ON FRIDAY AND SATURDAY"
Sharing the latest assessments of the General Directorate of Meteorology, the Istanbul Governor's Office announced that the rainfall effective in the eastern part of the region would temporarily stop during the night hours, but a new wave would arrive in the morning hours. The statement included the following: "The heavy rainfall currently effective in the eastern part of the Marmara region is expected to lose its effect as of tonight. However, starting from tomorrow morning (Friday, October 16, 2026), the region is expected to begin receiving rainfall again, and it is forecast to be heavy in Istanbul, especially the European Side, as well as the northern districts and the eastern part of Kırklareli. The rainfall is expected to increase its effect starting from tomorrow night and to continue heavily across the entire province of Istanbul and around Kırklareli on Saturday."
