The figures that Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe have guaranteed to put into their coffers before even playing a match in the Champions League group stage have been revealed. While Galatasaray has guaranteed 30.5 million euros, Fenerbahçe's minimum income has reached 31.8 million euros.
After Fenerbahçe eliminated Lyon in the UEFA Champions League play-off round, Turkey earned the right to be represented by two teams in the Champions League after a long absence.
Following Galatasaray, who qualified directly for the Champions League by winning the Super League last season, Fenerbahçe also overcame the Lyon hurdle and advanced to the league phase. Before even playing their first match in the Champions League, the two fierce rivals also secured significant income.
GALATASARAY SECURED €30.5 MILLION
Galatasaray, who qualified directly for the Champions League as the Super League champions, secured a guaranteed income of €30.5 million. The red-and-yellows will receive €18.6 million as a participation fee, €3.5 million due to their position in the 10-year ranking, and €8.4 million from the 5-year ranking and media revenues. Thus, Galatasaray guaranteed a total income of €30.5 million before stepping onto the field.
€31.8 MILLION INTO FENERBAHÇE'S COFFERS
The amount guaranteed by Fenerbahçe, who advanced to the Champions League by eliminating Lyon, was higher than Galatasaray's. The yellow-navy blues will earn €18.6 million from the participation fee, €3.8 million from the 10-year ranking, and €9.4 million from the 5-year ranking and media revenues. Thus, Fenerbahçe secured €31.8 million before even entering the league phase of the Champions League.
TOTAL OF €62.3 MILLION FOR THE TWO CLUBS
When the guaranteed incomes of Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are combined, a massive figure of €62.3 million emerges. The wins, draws, ranking, and advancement bonuses that the two representatives will earn in the Champions League will further increase their total income at the end of the season.
